Renting a T1 apartment in Lisbon cost €1,240 per month in the final stretch of 2021. But in Paris it cost more: €1,964.
Rent prices continue to rise in several European cities – in some more than 10 percent. In Lisbon, renting a furnished T1 apartment cost, on average, €1,240 per month between October and December 2021. But in Paris it costs even more: €1,964 euros per month. And in Berlin, rent values jumped 40% in just one year, according to data from the HousingAnywhere International Rent Index.
At the bottom of the table is the city of Turin, in Italy, where it is possible to rent an apartment for 846 euros per month, accompanied by Valencia (Spain), where rents are situated at 856 euros per month.
The survey found that 11 of the 22 European cities have seen the prices of apartments for rent rise by double digits and Lisbon was the 11th city where prices rose the most in this period (+10.59%).
“Cities are competing for talent, while talent is competing for houses,” said Djordy Seelmann, CEO of HousingAnywhere. “This requires stakeholders such as municipalities, universities, property developers and technology providers to work together to find short-term and long-term solutions to the housing crisis that is troubling Europe. We must prioritize co-creation and cooperation, because global talents are postponing or even cancelling their international education and career plans, because they cannot find a suitable home”, he added.
